Safety meets Fashion: Ladies’ Handguns now heading the ramps

We all know how attractive the lissome and nubile figures become once expensive, well-cut fabrics drape around them. And we also know that animal instincts still prevail in us; though most of us have enough control and conscience to suppress the sudden pangs willfully, there are others who find satiating evil impulses a way of life. We are to discuss if any fashion is strong enough to keep such adversities away.

This is why stun guns and TaserTM became the choice of a large number of fashionable young ladies since few years back, but even these have certain points that cannot be overruled. Firstly, any device giving out non-lethal electrical charges to an aggressor needs him to be in full contact; these devices are not useful even if an attacker is only a foot away. Besides, if a TaserTM gets snatched, chances are that you shall have to give in to the decision of the attackers without even offering a single bit of resistance. This made ladies’ think about an alternative that can be effective even when an attacker is 20feet away. Welcome, the ladies’ guns, in the .22 or .25 caliber automatics, which had enough power to drill a shallow hole in the body of an attacker, but almost useless in dealing with an angry, misogynistic mob. So the small .38 Special snub-noses won the vote.

The chief idea is to make the gun match your dress and the environment while packing enough stopping power.

But if you are to go for a single one instead of building an armory, there’s quite nothing like the Smith & Wesson short barreled .38 Specials; some of them even come in hammerless models so as to minimize getting stuck in the long flowing gowns. The Bodyguard and other Centennial configurations have that feminine touch that competes well with the Colt D-frame. They can be fired right from inside (more…)

For those who are just making an entry to the fashion domains, the runway trends are the way shaped by the major industry events, eventually shaping what fashion should be in the near future. They also define the media’s moods and introduce the chief take-away concepts in color and silhouettes. The runway trends are a review of the designer collections, textiles and accessories from Paris, London, New York, Milan and Tokyo, though New Delhi, Sydney and Singapore have also been included into the roster.

So that has set what the Fall/Winter collection for 2009 is going to be. All right, it shall be an abundance in hues, cuts and textures, but that’s not even half being told. The most prominent looks are expected to come in combinations of grays, blacks and whites to jazz up the regular sleek and chic look; with an extra volume added to the necklines, dresses, skirts and pants alike, it sure paves the way for fitted jackets to travel further in ready to wear collections.
